Marcy Paganelli
Birth Doula
Postpartum Doula
Marcy is a Birth and Postpartum Doula certified by BEST Doula Training. Her passion for supporting families through the early stages of parenthood stems from her own journey with mental health and motherhood. After being diagnosed with clinical depression as a teenager and later experiencing severe postpartum depression, Marcy saw firsthand the stigma and fear that often prevent new parents from seeking help. Her personal experience drives her to provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support for families navigating the emotional and physical challenges of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
Marcy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Grand Valley State University in 2005 and has worked in the mental health field since 2003. Her career includes roles in adult foster care, behavioral health, and staff education, where she supervised teams and trained caregivers in trauma-informed, person-centered care. She became a certified Gentle Teaching Trainer, emphasizing empathy and respect in caregiving relationships, and holds additional certifications as a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP), Certified Behavior Analyst (ABA), Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist, Mental Health Facilitator (MHF), and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
Through her years of work in mental health and behavioral support, Marcy has seen the powerful impact of empathy, self-awareness, and community. Her transition into doula work was a natural extension of that purpose — helping parents embrace their journey with confidence, self-compassion, and support. She believes that caring for a baby begins with caring for oneself and that honest conversations about mental health are essential to thriving as a parent. Marcy lives in Grand Rapids and is a proud mom of two.
